Our Danish Forest & Nature School Course is coming to Amman!
This course offers educators the combined curriculum of Step 1 and Step 2 of the Outdoor Pedagogue certification. It provides a robust theoretical foundation and practical competency in the Danish Forest School approach and a clear, research-informed framework for using outdoor environments as intentional learning spaces.

Foundations of Outdoor Pedagogy

  • The Danish Nature & Forest School Approach: Historical roots and contemporary application.
  • The Evolutionary Perspective: Understanding the developmental necessity of outdoor play.
  • Environment Design: Criteria for selecting and establishing a sustainable outdoor learning site.

Applied Practice & Risk Management

  • The Role of the Pedagogue: Moving from instructor to facilitator and observer.
  • Risk-Benefit Analysis: Developing a professional framework for “risky play” and safety management.
  • Curriculum Integration: Mapping outdoor activities to primary and early years learning outcomes.
  • Technical Proficiencies: Basic outdoor skills including knots, lashings, and fire safety (Introduction to First Aid included).

Markos Zangas-Tsakiris holds an MA in Environment from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and a Diploma in Education for Sustainable Development from the University of the Aegean (Greece).

Since 2004, he has worked in environmental education with various NGOs and as a kayak instructor, leading children on outdoor learning adventures. He currently runs the Forest and Nature School program at Paichnidagogeio Elementary School in Athens, Greece.

From 2018 to 2021, he participated in the Erasmus+ project “Exploring the Curriculum Through Nature Programs.” He is also a guest speaker at the University of Geneva, where he teaches the course “Forest School and Outdoor Nature Programs.”

Markos joined Inside Out Nature in 2014 and has since facilitated more than 30 training courses worldwide.
